Doug Nelson is a senior consultant in the field of business continuity management -- including organizational preparedness, response, continuity of operations planning, incident and crisis management, program assessment, benchmarking, and exercise. Over the past 15 years Mr. Nelson has provided consultation and project management service to the following organizations: |

Doug is certified as a Business Continuity Professional by the Disaster Recovery Institute International and as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute. He is a graduate of the University of California and holds a Masters Degree from California Polytechnic State University.
Doug currently serves on several national and international committees responsible for the development of standards and professional practices in Business Continuity and Organizational Resilience. He is a member of the Technical Committee that maintains NFPA 1600 - the ANSI standard for Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity. He is also a member of the committee of experts developing the ANSI standards for Organizational Resilience and Business Continuity Management. In addition, Doug is a member of the committee of experts developing the Australia/New Zealand standard for Business Continuity Management.
Doug’s most recent assignment has been to lead development of a Business Continuity Management Standard for the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority in the United Arab Emirates.
Doug’s previous assignments have included activation of corporate Crisis Management Teams for Y2K, 9/11, IED attack by extremist groups, product recall, and building emergencies. As a past member of the California Resiliency Alliance, Doug has supported county and state-level response involving simulated activation of their Emergency Operations Centers.
